Edward Lindsey

rule Why elect Edward Lindsey?

Our area has historically sent to the Georgia Legislature strong Republican community leaders and Edward Lindsey will continue that tradition because this district is more than just a set of political boundaries for him. It is his home town and where his wife Elizabeth and he have chosen to raise their three sons. That is why his priorities in the legislature will be:

Crime & Safety: We live in one of the nation’s most desirable neighborhoods. Yet, an out-of-control bar scene spills crime and congestion directly into our neighborhoods. Edward Lindsey wants to reduce the number of bars in Buckhead… close them earlier… and make neighborhoods quiet and safe.

Education: Even great students and good schools suffer when colleges and universities see them coming from a state school system that ranks 50th out of 51. Edward Lindsey’s Responsible Education Reform plan tackles the real problems facing education in Georgia by putting the focus on our classrooms and not the bureaucrats.

Congestion: Neighborhood roads aren’t designed for commuter traffic and main arterial streets aren’t built to be parking lots. Cars speeding through our community make neighborhood roads unsafe and cars sitting in traffic add to our air pollution. Edward Lindsey’s common sense plan improves traffic on main arterial streets and gets cars out of our neighborhoods.

Taxes: Taxes take bigger and bigger bites out of family income, and return less and less in service. Edward Lindsey will cap tax reassessments so local government can’t use rising home values to drive property taxes ever higher.

Neighborhood Protection: Edward Lindsey will propose legislation that makes it easier for neighborhoods on their own to set aside Greenspace for future enjoyment through tax incentives and private initiatives. He will also require that impact fees already collected by the city from developers be used in our neighborhoods impacted by development and not downtown.

Tort and Civil Justice Reform: Edward Lindsey has been a defense lawyer in the civil trial area of our court system for more than 20 years defending professionals, businesses and individuals in law suits. Therefore, he knows first hand that reasonable reforms are needed that will ensure the guarantee of a jury trial under our American legal system is not jeopardized by a glut of litigation that delays, and denies, justice to our citizens. Edward Lindsey will propose legislation that punishes parties who engage in frivolous litigation.
